The Certified Forensic Specialist – Level 1 (CFS-I) is an intensive, self-paced, online certification program for frontline operators, maintenance technicians, supervisors, and reliability professionals. It builds the investigative skills needed to detect equipment deterioration before it causes failure, quality defects, or unplanned downtime. Participants learn Operator Diagnostic Reliability (ODR), the five stages of failure progression, sensory and operational observation, structured inspections, evidence documentation, and escalation. Practical diagnostic exercises cover infrared thermography, sight glasses, magnetic plugs, contamination monitoring, and filtration analysis. On completion, participants can identify abnormal equipment conditions, document failure fingerprints, and communicate findings using a common reliability language. The participant will receive a certification of completion after completing the course.
