Reduced cooling efficiency and compressor stress

Repair Urgency Scale.jpg
Thermal Cue.png

Mid-section of the condenser coil, running laterally across multiple coil fins.

An abnormally hot horizontal band is visible across the center section of the condenser coil.

Reduced cooling efficiency and compressor stress

Signs and Symptoms.png

1.) Restricted airflow due to internal or external blockage
2.) Possible refrigerant imbalance or contamination
3.) Fouled or corroded coil inhibiting proper thermal exchange
4.) Fan failure or improper fan speed

1.) Non-uniform heat distribution in condenser coils with a hotter region in upper coils
2.) Central coil section significantly hotter than surrounding areas
3.) Reduced airflow or ineffective heat dissipation likely
4.) Higher than normal energy usage

1.) Perform a visual inspection for debris, dirt, or physical damage on the coil
2.) Use a refrigerant pressure gauge to assess system pressures
3.) Measure amp draw and verify fan motor operation
4.) Inspect for any internal refrigerant line restrictions or kinks

Potential Root Causes.jpg

1.) Clean condenser coil thoroughly using approved coil cleaner
2.) Verify refrigerant charge and inspect for leaks
3.) Inspect and service fan motor and capacitor
4.) Replace or repair damaged sections if internal blockage or corrosion is found
5.) Schedule a certified HVAC technician for a system performance test

Neglected coil maintenance and/or environmental contaminants (pollen, dust, leaves) leading to uneven heat exchange and thermal inefficiency.

1.) Corrective: Clean coil, verify refrigerant charge, and service fan components
2.) Preventive: Implement seasonal HVAC maintenance plan and install protective screens if needed

1. Perform a Breakdown Analysis
